Project Summary
Problem Statement
Auto Speed wanted to modernize the suspension system of their existing golf carts, which used outdated front and rear leaf spring suspensions. The goal was to improve ride comfort, vehicle stability, and overall efficiency for 4-seater, 6-seater, and 8-seater models. They required a custom double wishbone front suspension and semi-trailing arm rear suspension, fully engineered for production, that could handle varying loads and offer better handling performance across different seating capacities.
Delivery
Final Outcome
We designed and engineered a complete double wishbone suspension for the front and a semi-trailing arm suspension for the rear of Auto Speed’s golf carts. Starting with a full suspension analysis, we calculated all required parameters, determined hardpoints, and performed detailed kinematic studies. We then designed the suspension components and customized the coil spring parameters to suit multiple cart configurations — 4-seater, 6-seater, and 8-seater variants. The project was completed with full CAD models and manufacturing drawings, enabling production-ready implementation. The final suspension system provided a significant improvement in ride quality, handling, and operational efficiency across all models.
