Problem Statement

Velocity AutoTech wanted to convert a Ford Mustang into a high-performance electric vehicle by replacing its rear-wheel-drive engine with a Tesla electric motor. The challenge was to design a fully custom solution that would fit the new powertrain into the existing Ford Mustang chassis while maintaining vehicle dynamics and structural integrity. The project required designing a custom suspension system, rear motor mountings, and adapting the drivetrain components — all in a package ready for manufacturing.

We engineered a complete custom rear subframe, double wishbone suspension, and mounting system to integrate a Tesla rear motor into the Ford Mustang chassis. The design ensured proper alignment of drivetrain geometry, optimal weight distribution, and seamless compatibility with the existing vehicle mounting points. We delivered a fully detailed CAD package and manufacturing drawings, enabling Velocity AutoTech to move straight to prototyping and production. The result was a robust, production-ready mechanical platform that allowed a smooth electric conversion of the Ford Mustang.
